Quartz, biotite and amphibole pepper this igneous rock from the stream bed. These course-grained, plutonic, igneous rocks forms when magma forms deep underground (large crystals means that it cooled slowly, giving those crystals time to grow). It would also have to get to the surface after it formed - that means that the miles of rock that used to be above it were eroded away over time. This rock has come a long way to get to the Green.
